Nepeta Catsria. Named for the pre-imperial Roman village of Nepi, the supposed origin of the plant, and the Latin for “of cats”. All parts of the plant release chemicals called nepetalactones, which adhere to olfactory receptors causing β-endorphin secretion into the bloodstream, thus activating μ-opioid receptors. This is similar to the mechanisms of opioid reactivity in humans, but without any withdrawals.
I don’t really have anywhere to go from there. So I guess this completes my wordatizing for today.
Stay cool, everyone. And drive safe.
