• One hundred. The big Hundo. A century.  All the cents…

It’s been about 9½ months since I started this little web-thingy. And while I’ve been a bit more “almost” than “daily”, 100 Haikus is a pretty cool milestone. That’s about ⅜ of a Haiku, or 6.4 syllables, each day. I don’t thing partial syllables is possible though. I feel rounding down is appropriate whenever listing achievements, but if you’re measuring syllables, I would think that any portion of a syllable by itself would actually be a syllable. I haven’t the time to locate an expert on syllabatic enumeration, nor the time to discuss the matter even if I could. In my best judgement, I will say partial syllables are not possible. Therefore, I have averaged either 6-or-7 syllables a day. That seems satisfactory.

I have several weeks before my next milestone, One Year, and I hope to improve that average before then.

Thank you all for being with me through this journey so far. And I look forward to what this path holds going forward.

(Hey. Look at that. I did math on a sunday.)

  • There’s not a lot going on in my head at the moment. Kind of foggy up there right now. Like a morning mist filling in the low spots, blanketing over the details, smudging the corners and edges until anything I’m trying to think is just a muddied swirl.

I do have a cup of coffee, and snoring cat in my lap. And that makes me happy. So even though I cannot yet make the words happen, I’m still satisfied with this morning’s effort.

Sometimes it’s not about the objectives, or even the path towards them. It’s about the little stops we make. The pockets of quiet comfort we discover and share with a friend, or a cat.

And remember! If you missed Father’s Day because you were working, or lost your calendar, or were abducted by aliens, or whatever; today is the makeup day! So take your dad out to dinner, or buy him some tools, or just give him a hug. And then give your mom an even bigger hug because she has to live with him.

  • Shortly after taking this picture, I took the box out to the recycling bin. Chai is going to hate me if I keep stealing her newest favorite spots. I really don’t mean to. It’s just that my favorite “I’ll get to this later” spot happens to be in the same place as her “center of attention pedestal to scream from” spot. Like the old saying goes, one person’s trash is another cat’s cozy nap spot. Yeah. That’s a saying. People say it all the time. Well, maybe cats say it all the time. Somebody says it all the time! I didn’t just make it up!! Oh… wait. Yes I did. Thats how these ramblizations work. Just semi-coherant word vomit splattering out of my thumbs. Which reminds me, I need to eat breakfast.

Before I go, my lawyers are telling me I should mention that this is by no means any sort of endorsement for a specific color of cordless power tool. Yellow, Red, Blue, or even green; they all have their pros and cons. But once you pick one, you’re kinda stuck with it or half your batteries don’t work with the other half of your tools. So Yellow is just what I have. And Chai approves of their boxes!

Well ladies and jellybeans, that’s about all I have to say. I hope you’ve enjoyed our time together this morning. See you all tomorrow; same cat-time. Same cat-channel. ….or, um, cat-website.

  • Chai would like to go outside. Chai is not allowed outside. Chai knows this. Chai tries anyway.

Not only do I deny her free reign of the wilderness beyond the glass, but I also took away her newest favorite spot. The dining room chair that sits upended on the butcherblock has been awaiting repairs for a prolonged period of time. Shortly after taking this picture, the chair finally made its way to the garage where it underwent moderate surgery before being reunited with its brethren. Chai has once again been robbed of a personal luxury. So sorry, Chaichai.

But, hey! It’s Thursday! Garbage goes out!!

Enjoy your day, everyone. Take some time to laugh at something.

  • I’m trying to make lunch, and eat breakfast, and write a Haiku, and ramble without purpose, all at the same time. It’s not working well. And I am going to be late. And hungry. But at least I’m dressed.

    Have a day, everyone.

  • This morning Chai was telling me about the time she went wind surfing in the Adirondacks, (or maybe it was the Azores, she couldn’t remember which), with this burly Russian Blue tour guide named Sputnik. And while she was out there surrounded by mountains (she wasn’t really sure it was wind surfing, maybe it was hang-gliding) she totally fell in love with nature. The rocks and grass beneath her feet (now she thinks maybe they were just hiking, or possibly mountain climbing) and the sun on her back, and the fresh air; all of it made her realize how being cooped up inside had limited her spiritual growth. And so, after spending a couple weeks shacked up with Sputnick in the Agricola Mountains, she didn’t ever want to go back to being a house cat.

About that time, though, she was getting hungry. She realized she hadn’t eaten anything since she arrived in Appalachia (or maybe it was Argentina) so she decided to get up and head back into the kitchen for a bite or two of meomix. Once she got some kibble in her tummy she discovered napping in the cardboard box sitting by the back door was actually far superior to all that nature crap.

…she was really hit’n those leafy greens hard yesterday.

Anynip, I hope you all meet your own Sputnick and have some wonderful adventures like Chai did. But not right now. Right now it’s Tuesday morning and everyone has to go to work today.

  • TGIM! Finally, I can go back to work and I don’t have to think about yard work at all! On top of that, it rained all day yesterday, so I don’t even have to water. It’s nothing but spreadsheets and phone calls today! Woot!!

Now. Let’s see if this artificial excitement will carry me through the day…

Sorry. Short blurbage again. Have to make lunch, put on pants, all that noise. You all have a day! See you tomorrow.

  • I’ll let you in on a little secret, if you need something from a hardware store or home improvement center, you can get a lot of stuff on sale today because it’s father’s day. And you don’t have to be a father! They don’t even check! So go buy yourself a new tool! Or a truck! Or whatever else fathers can get for cheap today! Yay, capitalism!

As for Catio 2.0, this not a Blanket Fort Workshop original. It is a pre-fab kit. I think the cats can tell, and they feel a bit jilted. I can understand their disappointment, but it is actually really nice. I’m sure they’ll get over the heartbreak soon and be fully enjoying it in no time.

But anypoo. I need to eat breakfast, so I’m cutting this short. If I have time, I’ll come back and amend. But if you’re reading this I did not.

Enjoy your sunday, have a Sundea!

  • It appears to be a lovely morning. The sun is singing, the birds are shining, and I have coffee. However, I don’t known if I have enough coffee. This may come as a surprise to to my tens of faithful readers, but I am tired this morning. I know, big shocker.

I have been dredging the murky, silt laden waters of my subconsciousness this morning. Trying to uncover just a nugget of creative silliness for today’s ramblings, and I’m coming up bupkis. I managed the seventeen required syllables, and technically, I am still writing. But it’s lacking spark. That je ne sais quoi. I need a new grove. Gotta find that ol’ razzle-dazzle. Some swank. A bit of mummery. Pomp! Glitz! Words that suck less.

Fuckit. I’m gonna go make some oatmeal. Maybe I’ll have better words tomorrow. Tata.

  • I was pretty late in getting this one written this morning. Spent all my early a.m. writing time trying to plan a christmas mouse land vacation. I really want to go on a christmas mouse boat vacation, but the calendars are conflicting so the great oracle says that would have to be next year. And since the mouse won’t announce their winter boat dates for next year until mid summer this year, I pretty much just wasted two hours instead of writing. Which, as I understand it, is a big part of professional writing. So I guess I’m getting good. Or something.

Anyshit, I need to get this uploaded and scheduled or I’ll miss that arbitrary deadline. And I need to mow the lawn. Enjoy your, what day this is, Friday maybe? I need coffee. And breakfast. And pants.
