• What day is it? Wednesday? That sounds right.

I need a nap. Preferably curled up on HUGE pillow like one of these ridiculously adorable furballs. I mean, seriously, do they practice this shit?

    No. NO NAPS!

    There is no napping.

    Only Zuul.

Anyway. Hope your Wednesday doesn’t suck!

  • First winter has descended. Crashing through the final browning remnants of autumn still clinging to their branches and encasing our automobiles and patio furniture in its icy slag.  For those of you who haven’t satiated the annual cravings for pie spices and light sweaters, you needn’t fret. As I mentioned, this is only first winter, it will be fall again in a few days.

I do love this weather, though. A warm cat in your lap on a cold November morning is one of life’s finest offerings.

Enjoy your Tuesday, and be kind.

  • I’m sure this is no surprise to all my faithful readers (and I thank both of you) but cats aren’t big fans of winter. Or cold weather in general. They can get a little expressive of their intolerance for lesser temperatures.

Collette is especially susceptible to this phenomenon. She is a world-class glarer. But she is also a professional snuggler. So if she ever tires of the heating vent, or should the furnace dare to discontinue its provision of warmth, and should you have a blanket appropriately draped upon your lap, she may select you as an adequate substitution and nap upon you.

Ok everyone. It’s another day. If you have to put on pants and leave your toasty abode, leave early. Traffic is gonna suck.

  • I’ve spent most of the weekend organizing Lego pieces. It’s been awesome. There’s something profoundly peaceful about separating a big bucket of random Lego bricks into their specific types, and then each type into various sizes, and then each size by color. It’s just… nice.

Hope you enjoyed this rare Sunday Cat Haiku! Now go watch sports, or vacuum, or paint, or something.

  • I should have used this one for Halloween. But I didn’t notice that smile until today. She’s a great cat. But kinda creepy.

I missed you all yesterday. There is no grand tale of heroics or horrors that kept me away. I just sat down to vegetate and completely forgot about doing one. It happens.

But today is another day! And I will do things! Productive things!

I do have an extensive list of this-and-thats  to attend to. But most importantly, I need to begin preparations for The Day Of Eating. This year is gonna be tacos. Because why not.

    mmmmmmmm……. tacos…..

  • FlooferNoofer took some time out of here busy schedule yesterday to pay the vet a visit. Just an annual checkup. No need to panic.

She is, as is normal for her people, not a fan of these periodic engagements. She behaves for the vet, of course. She is an absolute angel for medical professionals.  But getting her into the car to get to the vet usually involves human blood and an opportunity to clean up cat pee. It’s quite an invigorating morning activity. You should try it sometime.

Well, it’s time to make the donuts. This is problematic because I do not have the necessary tools or expertise to accomplish this. And I have a job (at which I may eat a donut) that I must depart for. So, you all figure out the donut conundrum, and I’ll be back tomorrow.

    Have a day.

  • Recycled Haiku. I posted this on one of those “social” sites a while back. And I’m hoping to relive that particular moment for a good chunk of today.

…but, there is coffee to drink and things to do and stuff to get. So my sleeping will sadly not last until noon.

  • Chai (the cat) wanted to be in the room. The door to said room was closed. Chai, lacking thumbs and appropriate knowledge, could not open the door. In the ferocity of her efforts, the Lei fell victim.

What I find most interesting about this morning’s presentation is the motive and means have been present for an extraordinary length of time. For years, that ornamentation of the neck has adorned that specific doornob. And that specific cat has many times expressed a desire to be on the other side of that door. But it wasn’t until this evening prior that her muse spoke. Prodded her into manifestation of thought. Pushing her to the brink of self-expression, before launching her into furious creative creation.

Don’t ask me what it means, though. I don’t get art.

Hey. It’s Monday. Go do a thing!

    (and listen to your muse)

  • Believe it or not, cat Haiku doesn’t pay the bills. So I have a “real” job where I have to “be social” and “try not to yell at people”. Yesterday, at the “real” job, the roof was being replaced. And let me tell you, there is nothing quite like sitting in a wooden box while a half dozen guys bang on the top of it with hammers for eight hours. Woo! That was a fun day.

(Narrator: It was not actually a fun day.)

So, for some reason, I have a headache now. But I suffered through it to get 17 syllables together, put it on a cat pic, and get it posted.  And I did it all for you, my devoted fans. No need to thank me. But I will accept cash.

  • (this one goes to eleven)

This is Mr. Figgs. Mr. Figgs doesn’t have a tail. But he does have ridiculously adorable toe-beans. It is hard to Haiku a cat with ridiculously adorable toe-beans without focusing on said toe-beans. Luckily, Mr. Figgs is overflowing with general cuteness and exudes inspiration. I would call him my muse, but he doesn’t know what that means and I don’t want him to feel like he’s not fulfilling some lofty expectation and therefore inadequate in some way. It’s important for cats to know they are awesome. This knowledge is not difficult for cats to acquire. It is more of an innate instinct.

This was meant to be yesterday’s Cat Haiku, but I missed my self-imposed and arbitrary deadline. So, you get it on a Wednesday. And if the middle of the week was deserving of a particular cat habit, napping in the sun would be on the shortlist.

Take some time today to curl up in a warm sunbeam and nap. Your boss is cool with it. Probably.
