• Happy Christmas Eve.

Today is a day we eat too much. Which isn’t all that unique. But, we do it with family. And there’s cookies. And presents. And cookies.

So I hope you all get enough cookies tonight! And when it’s all over, curl up under the covers like Chai here, and snore.

  • Oh yes. The horror of winter has just begun. Prepare yourself for ice and snow and windchills that will freeze your boogers. But it’s not all doom and gloom and blocked up sinuses. The first day of winter is also the shortest daytime of the year. Yes, I know, that doesn’t sound like a good thing. In fact, it sounds exactly like the “gloom” I just said it wouldn’t all be. But think about it. If today has the least daylight hours of all days, that means it has less sunlight than yesterday AND tomorrow.  Starting today, each tomorrow will have slightly more glowing warmth from that massive ball of fire and cancer in the sky.

So enjoy your elongated weekends, try not to go shopping this week, and have another cookie.

Oh, and stay warm. It is going to be stupid cold much of the coming months.

  • To all of my clamoring fans who have spent sleepless nights wringing their hands with worry, do not fret. I assure you, I have been writing. Just not haikuing.  That all changes today!

As mentioned somewhere in the previous thirty-seven or so postings, I do enjoy writing. Sometimes, I write just seventeen syllables at a time. Sometimes (like right now), it’s a few dozen words of whimsical wit and wisdom. And on occasion, I write pages at a time. P A G E S It is almost impressive. Almost, because I haven’t written all the pages for anything yet. I have ideas for things that have the potential to become towering manuscripts. There are some of those ideas I have fleshed out into brief descriptions, plots even. And, there are a select few ideas for which I have the aforementioned quantities of gathered words.  But none, as of yet, consist of all of their pages. All the great works I have working are sadly incomplete.

“When will I see one?”, you ask.

Why, when I have finished it. Of course!

And don’t ask when that will happen, I do not know.

    But I am writing things…

Well, until Bruni decides I  am done writing things, that is. (I am ferociously hammering out these collections of characters with my thumbs. It is all he allows me)

  • It’s cold outside. Like, really really really cold. I would stay home all day, wrapped in blankets, a cat on my lap, maybe a steaming mug or two of hot chocolate. But there’s a cat in my chair. And I have to go to work. But mostly the cat.

Stay warm, everybody. Your tauntaun will probably make it to the first marker, but not much further.

  • The holidays are tough on these little furry dudes. Remember to give them lots of love and extra snacks.

The holidays are also tough on me, so remember to give me extra snacks too.

Acceptable snacks include but are not limited to: cookies and/or cheese. For me. Snacks for me should be cookies and/or cheese. I don’t know what the cats want. Maybe bourbon?

  • Bruni is an odd duck. And that’s ok.

I’m writing this last night, and my head hurts, so this is gonna be short.

Have some coffee, everyone. And be kind. You should probably should eat something too.

(full disclosure, Bruni is not actually a duck)

  • I have neglected the floof. Too many hours spent at work. I need to be at home more, so this floofiest of floofs has a lap to lay in. Perhaps I shouldn’t work. Perhaps I should dedicate my every waking hour to this floofy ball of floof. Perhaps I should build a Temple of Floof and adorn it in sparkles and crinkles and little feathery bits hanging from strings. Perhaps I should recruit others to join me in the temple, and we shall anoint ourselves with catnip and pay homage to all that is Floof.

May She prepare biscuits upon your belly. May Her purring bring you peace. May the Floof be with you.

    (it’s totally not a cult)

  • It’s Monday. I don’t have a lot of time for amusing ramblings because I need to put on pants and go to work. Capitalism sucks. We need an economic system that relies heavily on me sitting comfortably with a ball of fur purring in my lap. But until the math people figure out how to make that work, I need to work. And wear pants.

Don’t forget to eat. Go easy on the caffeine. Drink some water. And be kind.

    Now go do the thing.

  • A nice relaxing Saturday.

That’s what I was hoping for.

But noooooooo, it’s time to decorate the Yule outta this mf!!  That’s right, we are rolling deep in that festive spirit ’round here! We are gonna jingle the fucking bells, and roast the shit outta some chestnuts. Hells yeah!

    Christmas AF up in here.

But… um. Yeah. That was how I spent my Saturday. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

  • She was hiding for some of the day, too. From the vacuum. The evil vacuum…

But I put the vacuum away, and now all is safe again in her queendom.

I did spend most of yesterday cleaning and moving things around and dragging plastic crates of Christmas decorations down the stairs, all of which is just the worst, according to the cats. Some of them have forgiven me, some have not. I will have to provide extra snacks today.

I hope you all have a satisfying Saturday! May you finish your coffee while it’s still hot, and may the crumbles of your scone land safely in your mouth.
